Using mid-infrared spectroscopy to identify more fertile cows for insemination to sexed semen

چکیده
Context Broader applications of milk mid-infrared spectral data could add value to milk-recording data. One such application is rank cows on the probability conception first service (MFERT) which help prioritise for insemination with dairy sexed semen (SS).Aims This study compared use MFERT estimates against two other approaches, (1) identify most and least fertile (2) predicted be SS.Methods Mid-infrared from herd test after calving was used generate 13 379 predictions 76 cohorts. Reproduction records were calculate reproductive parameters, calf numbers net benefit, i.e. values minus mating costs, breeding programs. Breeding program 1 SS conventional semen, while 2 SS, beef semen. Three semen-allocation approaches compared, namely, allocation via MFERT, date (CDATE) or assignment random number generator (RANDOM).Key results significantly outperformed RANDOM in identifying likely (P<0.05), both CDATE overall (P<0.05). resulted up 1.5 4.5 more heifer calves, programs respectively, six fewer dairy-beef calves 2. Differences benefit among modest, although generally favoured MFERT. Few significant differences between found. However, all three seen 2.Conclusions cows. Realised benefits by over modest. Given impact type prices proposition will vary.Implications Our confirmed that can recording As sensitive individual farm incorporation alongside fertility parameters into a decision support tool desirable.

Effect of insemination-related factors on pregnancy rate using sexed semen in Holstein heifers
The objectives were to determine the effects of insemination with sexed semen at spontaneous and induced estrus, fixed-time insemination at synchronized estrus, the deposition site, estrous intensity, housing, age, body weight, and bull on the pregnancy rate in Holstein heifers, and to compare the quality traits of sexed sperm with those of unsexed semen. The study was conducted on 3206 heifers...
متن کاملSexed Semen Economics
The goal with sexed semen is to produce a calf of a specific sex. Sexed semen is widely available now and many dairy producers are using it to obtain more (and better) heifer calves. Because of its higher cost per dose of semen, combined with a reduced conception risk, sexed semen is primarily recommended for use in virgin heifers. The use of sexed semen varies widely among dairy producers. Som...
متن کاملPolymer Identification using Mid Infrared Spectroscopy
Synthetic polymers are very widely used today, with diverse applications in various industries such as food, automotive, and packaging. The quality of plastic products depends on the quality of the polymers or polymer blends used during manufacturing, so identity verification and quality testing of those materials during every stage of manufacturing is necessary to ensure that only high-quality...
متن کاملHuman Milk Analysis Using Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy.
BACKGROUND The composition of human milk is known to vary with length of gestation, stage of lactation, and other factors. Human milk contains all nutrients required for infant health but requires fortification to meet the needs of low-birth-weight infants. Without a known nutrient profile of the mother's milk or donor milk fed to a baby, the composition of the fortified product is only an esti...
